Keeping up with The Clackums

Since I know all of you are just dying to know...(not) ;) I thought I would start a segment here on my blog. My husband and I are both 2 hours and 45 min. away from our families. Yes, in complete opposite directions. We unfortunately don't get to see them as often as we would like.

Therefore, I will be (hopefully) writing a segment titled "Keeping up with The Clackums" every month! I believe this will be a fun and interesting way to keep our friends and family up on what is going on in the Clackum household down here is good ole South Carolina!

Apparently George and I have a deep seeded obsession for British television. We have been very much into "Downton Abbey" lately as well as "Sherlock".

I became interested in Downton Abbey first, but it didn't take very long for my hubby to follow suit! Since this amazing show is extremely popular right now we had to be put on hold for it at the library. So, I literally jumped up and down in the library line when we got the second season in! Seriously, I totally embarrassed myself. Luckily, the circulation clerk behind the desk watches Downton so she was more than sympathetic to my outburst! It is such a fantasitic show. It starts in 1912 and currently the show has now reached the 1920's. The writing and acting is absolutely superb. If you haven't had the chance to watch it yet you're really missing out!

We are currently watching the 3rd season of Downton which will come to a close in just a couple weeks!

Since we knew Downton Abbey wouldn't be on much longer we wanted a different show to get into....hence our new obsession with another British show Sherlock. Little did we know how fast we would breeze through season 1 and 2 only to realize they aren't even beginning filming on the 3rd season until 2014 (major bummer)! The show is about a modern day Sherlock who is solving crimes in London with his doctor friend John Watson. This modern day version is absolutely amazing and really makes you start to tap into the power of deduction! It has a high recommendation in the Clackum household as well!

Anyway, that's our happenings together....now on to our separate endeavors!

Laurin is....

  • Working hard at the library
  • Editing more pictures than she can count
  • Regularly speaking in a British accent (because of all the British television)
  • Sensationally behind on laundry
  • Dancing around the house obnoxiously EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
George is.....

  • Working super hard at Starbucks (he's the best barista ever)
  • Speaking weekly at youth and working so hard to bring the gospel every week to the students of REACH
  • Attempting a British accent as often as Laurin...again, blame it on BBC and Masterpiece Classic
  • Doing a good job of keeping the dishes clean! ;)
  • Still bitter about the Falcons not getting to play in the Super Bowl!
We are both pretty busy right now, but we are finding a way to love and serve each other every day.

  1. Great idea Laurin, glad to hear what is going on in the Clackum family. I have no doubt that George has become the best Barista that Starbucks has ever had. I know you two are extremely busy these days and Skeet and I are looking forward to seeing you guys soon.
    Love, Pops
